The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters in Abuja has summoned the Divisional Police Officer
(DPO) of the GRA Police Division, Asaba, Delta State, over allegations of extortion and wrongful
murder accusation.
The summon followed a complaint that the officer accused a man of murder and allegedly emptied his
bank account after he attempted to rescue a collapsed individual who later died in hospital. The
development was confirmed on Saturday by the NPF Complaint Response Unit (NPF-CRU) via a post
on X, in response to allegations shared by an X user, @ummuh_Zahra.
According to the NPF-CRU, the DPO has been directed to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for
questioning next week. “The Divisional Police Officer, GRA Asaba, @DeltaPoliceNG has been
summoned and will be at Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, for questioning concerning this complaint.

Narrating his experience, the complainant said he had rushed a young man who collapsed on the road to
the hospital after seeking medical advice, even as others ignored the situation. Unfortunately, the victim
was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.
He explained that, acting responsibly, he requested that the police be informed since he did not know
the deceased. However, upon reporting at the GRA Police Station in Asaba, he was allegedly accused
of murder, with his statement taken under caution.
The complainant further alleged that the DPO, CSP Joseph Udoh, threatened to “deal with him” for
acting like “Jesus,” warning that the experience would discourage him from helping dying persons in
the future—despite the deceased’s family confirming an underlying medical condition.
He added that it took the intervention of a senior government official to secure his release and alleged
that his bank account was later emptied as bail money, leaving him with only ₦2,000.
