The ₦10 million donation by Peter Obi to the fire-affected Practising Nursery and Primary School in Agulu has been described as a major relief for the institution after months of hardship caused by a devastating fire incident in December 2024.
The fire reportedly destroyed parts of the school building, forcing pupils and teachers to continue academic activities in difficult conditions. Some classrooms became unusable, while several parents withdrew their children due to concerns over the poor learning environment.
Obi’s donation is expected to support the reconstruction of damaged sections of the school and improve facilities for both pupils and staff. The intervention could help restore safer classrooms, replace damaged materials, and create a more comfortable atmosphere for learning.
The former Anambra State governor had earlier pledged support for the school during a visit following the incident. His contribution is seen by many residents as a timely effort to assist the affected community, especially as rebuilding efforts had progressed slowly.
Residents and school authorities are hopeful that the financial support will speed up rehabilitation work and encourage parents to return their children to the school. A post from X formally called Twitter.
