The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international cooperation on policing and internal security following a strategic meeting with officials of the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode
Adeolu Egbetokun, received the Deputy Assistant
Secretary of INL, Ms. Maggie Nardi, and her
delegation on a courtesy visit to the Force
Headquarters in Abuja.
Discussions during the meeting focused on
reviewing ongoing areas of cooperation and
exploring new opportunities to enhance
institutional capacity through specialised training
programmes and the provision of modern
operational equipment.
Ms. Nardi reiterated the INL’s continued support
for the Nigeria Police Force, emphasising the
importance of sustained collaboration in
improving operational effectiveness and internal
security.
In his remarks, the IGP commended the
partnership, highlighting the positive impact of
INL-supported training on the Special
Intervention Squad (SIS), particularly in
professionalism and discipline displayed during
recent operations.
Security Impact
The partnership is expected to strengthen tactical
capacity, improve policing standards, and
enhance public safety across Nigeria through the
