IGP Egbetokun Reaffirms Commitment to Housing Welfare for Police Officers

 The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated His administration’s commitment to improving housing welfare for officers of the Nigeria Police Force following a high-level engagement with the leadership of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN).

The IGP received the Managing Director of FMBN,

 Mr. Shehu Usman Osidi, and his management

 team on a courtesy visit to the Force

 Headquarters in Abuja, where discussions

 centred on strengthening collaboration to expand

 access to affordable housing and mortgage

 facilities for police personnel.

During the visit, Mr. Osidi expressed appreciation

 for the warm reception and described the Nigeria

 Police Force as one of the Bank’s most strategic

 institutional partners. He commended the Force

 for its cooperation with the Bank and called for

Bal  deeper collaboration to ensure that police

 officers can access housing benefits without

 unnecessary administrative delays or disputes.

Responding, IGP Egbetokun described the visit as

timely and significant, noting that strong

institutional partnerships are critical to achieving

 sustainable housing solutions for members of the

 Force. He emphasised that improved housing

 remains a key component of his welfare-focused'

 agenda for police officers nationwide.

The IGP further stressed that providing affordable

 and decent housing is essential to boosting

 morale, professionalism, and commitment among

 officers who risk their lives daily to maintain law

 and order across the country.

Why It Matters

Access to decent housing is a major welfare

 concern for security personnel. Strengthening

 cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and

 the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria is expected

 to improve living conditions for officers, enhance

 job satisfaction, and contribute to more effective

 policing and public safety.
