Fire Ravages Lagos Recycling Site, Spreads to Nearby Buildings

        

          A fire incident on Monday destroyed an open recycling site and spread to nearby structures along

 Pipeline Road, off Ekoro Road, in the Abule Egba area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident through its Controller-General, Mrs

 Margaret Adeseye, who said the agency received a distress alert at about 1:08 p.m. concerning a fire

 outbreak at No. 15, Pipeline Road.

According to Adeseye, firefighting teams from the Agege and Abesan fire stations were immediately

 dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze.

Preliminary findings indicated that the fire originated from an open area used for informal recycling

 activities by local operators. The flames subsequently extended to a nearby residential bungalow and a

 mini church, causing damage to both structures.

She disclosed that one adult female suffered shock during the incident but was promptly attended to and

 stabilised by emergency responders. No deaths were recorded.

Firefighters were later able to bring the situation under control, successfully preventing the fire from

 spreading to other adjoining properties in the area.

Adeseye added that investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause of the fire.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to safeguarding lives and

 property, while also advising residents to strictly observe fire safety measures to prevent similar

 incidents.
