Bandits Attack Niger Community Again, Leaving Four Dead

  Suspected bandits have once again attacked a community in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, leaving four dead and rustling cattle. The latest assault occurred just a week after Kasuwan Deji in the same area was raided by gunmen, resulting in 42 deaths.

The attack took place at 11 p.m. on Friday in Wawa, a mining community that has been operating illegally for some time. The gunmen struck after the villagers had gone to bed. Naijagossiper reports that Wawa has long been a target for such violence.

It is worth noting that in recent months, the Kainji Park has served as a hideout for the bandits, who have been operating freely in the region.

Mallam Abdullahi Mohammed Nasiru, Chairman of Borgu Local Government, confirmed the incident and expressed concerns over the growing threat in the area. He lamented that the local council is under siege by terrorists and urgently called for increased security patrols in the affected communities.

“I am calling for help and stressing the need for more robust security measures around the communities under attack,” Nasiru said.
