FG Announces ₦50,000 relief; as Opay disclose how Nigerians can access it
The Federal Government has announced a ₦50,000 living-cost support initiative for selected eligible Nigerians, with digital payment platform OPay facilitating the disbursement of the funds.
According to an announcement by OPay, the company has been approved as a payment provider for the Federal Government's National Economic Recovery and Stabilisation Initiative (NERSI) programme.
The payment platform said the arrangement was designed to ensure secure and transparent delivery of financial assistance to beneficiaries selected under the programme.
OPay disclosed that eligible Nigerians who have been selected can check their status and follow the instructions to accept the support through its mobile application or by dialling the USSD code * 955 * 20#.
The company also clarified that beneficiaries do not need to click external links to access the programme, adding that the process does not attract registration fees or other charges.
The ₦50,000 support is intended to provide some financial relief to selected Nigerians facing increasing living costs.
However, the announcement indicates that the intervention is limited to selected eligible beneficiaries and does not automatically mean every Nigerian with an OPay account qualifies.
Interested individuals have been advised to use the official OPay application or the designated USSD channel to check whether they have been selected.
The development comes amid continuing efforts to expand financial assistance and improve access to government support programmes through digital payment platforms.
