Lagos lawmaker and actor Desmond Elliot has reportedly appealed to former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, for forgiveness following disagreements surrounding the last All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Surulere.

Elliot was seen kneeling before Gbajabiamila while expressing regret over his actions during the political contest and asking to be welcomed back into the APC family in Lagos.

In his appeal, Elliot reportedly acknowledged that he had made mistakes during the primary process and expressed his willingness to rebuild his relationship with the party's leadership.

“I’m deeply sorry, sir,” Elliot was quoted as saying while seeking forgiveness.

The development has attracted attention because of the long-standing political relationship between Elliot and Gbajabiamila, who has played a significant role in Lagos politics and represented Surulere I Federal Constituency for many years.

Elliot Promises Renewed Loyalty

According to the account surrounding the meeting, Elliot accepted the outcome of the primary and indicated that he was ready to put the disagreement behind him.

He also reportedly pledged renewed loyalty to the leadership structure of the APC in Lagos, including the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC), as he seeks to restore his place within the party's political family.

The gesture has been interpreted by supporters as an attempt to resolve political differences through reconciliation rather than prolonged confrontation.

Political Significance

The episode also highlights the importance of political alliances and relationships within Lagos politics, where established networks can play a major role in determining the direction of party politics and future elections.

For Elliot, rebuilding his relationship with influential APC figures could be significant as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections gradually intensify.

Gbajabiamila, meanwhile, remains one of the influential political figures associated with the Tinubu political camp.

The reported reconciliation could therefore signal an effort to close a chapter of disagreement and strengthen unity within the APC structure in Surulere and Lagos State.
